Binzer, who went by the stage name Shifty Shellshock, was best known for his work with the rap-rock band Crazy Town. The band's debut album, "The Gift of Game," was released in 1999 and featured the hit single "Butterfly." The song became a crossover success, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Crazy Town toured extensively in support of the album, but they were dropped from Ozzfest in 2000 after Binzer was arrested for drunken misbehavior. The band continued to release music throughout the 2000s, but they never regained the same level of success as they had with "Butterfly."
Binzer continued to perform with Crazy Town under the name Crazy Town X in recent years. The band last toured in 2023.
